The NASDAQ Stock Market, also known simply as NASDAQ, is an American stock exchange that is known for its electronic trading platform. It was founded in 1971 and is the second-largest stock exchange in the world by market capitalization, after the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). NASDAQ is a global electronic marketplace for buying and selling securities, as well as the benchmark index for U.S. technology stocks. It is home to many of the world's leading technology and Internet companies, such as Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon. Unlike the NYSE, which still uses an open outcry system, NASDAQ operates fully electronically, using a computerized system to execute trades. It also offers a range of market data, trading, and other services to its members, and it's considered as a leading market for growth companies.
