BATS Global Markets, Inc. (BATS) is a global stock exchange operator, which operates electronic markets for the trading of listed cash equity securities and exchange-traded products. BATS was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, U.S. BATS operates four stock exchanges in the United States, Europe and Asia, including BATS BZX, BYX, EDGX, and EDGA. BATS BZX is the third-largest US equities market operator and it is known for its innovative technology, which provides faster and more efficient trading than other exchanges. BATS also operates BATS Options, an all-electronic options market, as well as BATS Chi-X Europe, a pan-European equities market. BATS Global Markets is now owned by Cboe Global Markets, one of the world's largest exchange holding company.
